Message-It gives me immense pleasure in welcoming you at the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, which is established in the serene surroundings of beauty of the hills and forests amidst the tribe- inhabited area. The tribes are rich in culture, art and craft. But the scenario regarding their modern education is lagging behind. In view of this fact the University has resolved to provide the best higher education to the tribal youth so that they can march forward to meet the future challenges in every walk of life. At the same time the university is open to all sections of the society. Basic education lays the foundation for a healthy, skilled and agile intellectual human force and life-long education beyond the basics which enables countries to continually assess, adopt and apply new knowledge and have their own importance in a knowledge-based society. Higher education is no longer perceived as an acquisition of a paper degree but obtaining right knowledge, skill and attitude so as to function as a productive member of the society. About The University-

The Indira Gandhi National TribalUniversity, Amarkantak has been established by an Act of the Parliament of India.

It came into existence by the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Act, 2007 and came into action with the appointment of Prof. C. D. Singh as its first Vice-Chancellor on July 8th, 2008.

The jurisdiction of the University extends to the whole country and it is fully funded by the Central Government through the University Grant Commission.

The university caters to the tribals� long cherished dream of higher education
